Sound not working .. or is it just me?
Called in to fix a problem with a nice customer who ‘has tried everything to get the sound to work”. The volume was just muted in Windows. Showed how to correct that in first minute. Oops, is there anything else to fix? Well she had a long list of confusions, but mostly just needed to learn how to work the computer and/or windows itself.
How can such a user expect to safely navigate the treacherous open waters of the internet? A similar client got one of those “I’m from a company working with Microsoft and just need you to run this little program for me so I can ‘fix’ your computer for you” followed by “Oh no, you have a lots of virus problems, what is your banking information so we can fix that for you”! By then it was a bit too late. They already have full access remotely to your computer and could install pretty much anything. Even worse, the other computers in the house networked to that infected computer now are also vulnerable.

cci wireless - a new option for our area .. coming soon?
http://cciwireless.ca rep came by the Pharmacy last week to sell us on the option of a wireless internet. Apparently they are building new towers in Cardston and Magrath areas now. A bit more than the traditional providers, but available to many more who are just outside the reach of those providers. Is this something you may use?

Cable Companies' A La Carte Plan Seems Like a Bait-and-Switch →
My 80 year old mother-in-law is considering switch from rabbit ears to cable or satellite (on her TV, eh). What is the best deal that she will be able to actually use? Stay tuned - we have choices: Shaw, Telus, Bell .. what will she end up with? I suggested she start with a month to month option for now till she decides. Signing up for a 3 year TV subscription plan is like buying into a 40 year home mortgage. Who wants that?

Night School?
A nice gentleman said he though I was in night school and how was I doing. Don’t know where that idea came from. I replied that there was little need to go to knight school, I didn’t look good in shining armor (clashes with my forehead) and I have no horse to ride. Hehe

So there is a thunderstorm watch alert for tonight .. so .. what could you do about it .. other than watch it. All my surge protectors got a working out last week already, with power on an off 4 times on Monday alone. So far everything is still limping along. HP7 part 2 tonight? →
My wife made me buy tickets for her to the big finale tonight. She likes to go to the opening nights, for some reason. I opted for the regular version vs the 3D .. how magical is that?
There were only 12 theater options that day .. however will we all get to see it?

Everyone keeps chatting up google plus vs facebook. I would like to test it out .. but no soup for me yet.
